While avoiding my homework, I discovered a disgustingly depressing poem I wrote on the peek of my roof my sophomore year of high school…three years ago. ohhhh hahaha.
There are so many ways this can be said atop a roof
A forty-five degree angle
I sit on the top
Straddling each side, dividing my body and my sore, constant throbbing
Unable to choose which side I find more appealing
The loving sun hits one delivering a golden glow
Providing life through the IV of the rays
Flies and bees dance their jig in its womb
The other side is shady, mossy, untouched and detached from its twin
I climbed the sun side with optimism leaking from my pores
Balanced
Perhaps my vision of the two sides would clearer sitting here
The sun will bid adieu to its mate, painting dull hues and stealing its warmth
And night will fall
The shaded side will remain mossy and true
And truth is what these words thrive on
So?
Should I not embrace the moss in all its honesty?
Or shall I sit like this forever
Appreciating each side as I see fit
My putrid soul will slowly mush and leak and melt
Down each side
I obviously need to go outside.
